New audio from Northern Territory

Over the past week I have decided to go back and revisit a lot of my good dx from the Gove Peninusla in the Northern Territory of Australia. One of the frustrating things has been I spent a lot of money sending out reports from this trip and so many stations never replied. So I am attempting to make email contact with a lot of the stations, put url links to box file tapes with better content.

DXing was done on the point near Yirrkala
So now here are some new recordings and a lot of them improved or lengthened. This time with better detail.

  1. 1270 KNDI Honolulu Hawaii - 10kw Distance 8046km .  0905 UTC on 25 June 2006.
  2. 1500 KUMU Honolulu Hawaii - (Now KHKA) 10kw Distance is 8045km.  This was heard at 0905 UTC on 25 June 2006. The Hawaiian stations were at 63 degrees.
  3. 567 khz KGUM Agana, Guam 10kw. Distance 2977km received on 25 August 2006 at 17 degrees.
  4. 612 khz KUAM in Agana Guam. 10kw  Distance 2977 km.  Heard 1144 UTC on 25 June 2006.
  5. 810 khz Radio Republik Indonesia Maurake. Amazingly this is a groundwave daytime signal. The distance is 572 km at 44degrees. It was heard at about 11am local time in the Northern Territory. The station at this time is networking Jakarta // 765
  6. 1584 T8AA Palau - Power is 5 kw and distance here was 2185km. This recording is rare in the fact the Palau mostly plays back to back music. You have to be lucky to get talk. Here I was lucky enough to get an ID and Time check about 13 seconds in. You will hear that the station has terrible modulation
  7. 1098 V7AB Marshall Islands. 25kw and distance 4384km. Very hard to get clear ID from this but if you listen after the music you will hear a clear but weak V7AB then some announcements for transmissions. Almost sounded like a dx show. This was mixing with 4LG Longreach.
  8. 1449 V6AH Kolonia - Pohnpei - Micronesia. 10kw and 3186km at 49 degrees. Difficult to get an ID out of this. Not in this recording. Island music the female announcer introducing a talk about recent Tsunami and about terrorism in Indonesia and The Philippines. This station often takes Radio Australia and VOA feeds.
  9. 1440 JOWF Sapporo Japan. 50kw - 6169km. Japanese announcer. Mixing here with Philippines, probably DWDH. One of the easier to hear Japanese.
  10. 1053 JOAR Nagoya Japan. 50kw 5252km. One of my best Japanese recordings. Morning reception at 1858. Jap stations were generally at their best close to sunrise.
I will update this post with many more recordings. Keep checking back.
