Europe
Dxing in Europe has certainly been a challenge. There are so many more stations and finding an ideal spot to listen from is not easy. In my early days in The Netherlands I got to spend some time with the guys from the Benelux Dx Club at a place called Echten, not far from Meppel in the Drenthe province. I was very green to European conditions and it was a nice place to start. In 2002 I also had a Dxpedition to Holten in the Eastern part of the country. Our son Matthew had just been born and as I listened to the radio, my wife Karin was caring for Matt in a nearby cabin. Mmmh. Priorities Dave!
The most enjoyable times I have had dxing has been with the guys from DX Antwerp. The Belgian guys are friendly, are professional but more importantly fun to be with. I have learnt a lot from the guys over the years and having Marc Vissers, Guido Schotmans to team up with for MW dx has been a real joy. We have had regular Dxpeditions to Walsoorden (Zeeland province) and also to Kasterlee in Belgium.
Sadly Walsoorden has finished as the owner Erik wants to live in the house that we rented.
A new site at Veurne (Knollehof) not far from the Belgian/French border has thrown up some remarkable dx since 2017. Its always great to catch up with the guys. Our next trip will be in late 2020
Here are some photos of Walsoorden
